Information Technology Specialist

Position Description
The CABE IT Specialist, under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer, is responsible for overseeing the various aspects of CABE operations as they relate to technology, including providing input on systems and processes best suited to the organization’s needs in the area of technology. The IT Specialist coordinates with other departmental leaders, supervises the graphics support staff and interacts with outside technological vendors/support. This is a full-time position with medical and dental benefits located at CABE Headquarters in Covina, CA.
Essential Job Duties
- Maintains, updates, and administers the computer and database operations
- Operating, installing, networking and repairing computers, computer software, printers and other peripheral computer equipment
- Maintains CABE website in collaboration with CEO
- Troubleshoots PC, MAC and web presence, (e.g. Facebook) computer hardware, system and program malfunctions; makes and arranges for corrections and repairs
- Monitors and performs system backups on a daily basis
- Restores files and directories from backup tapes on request and maintains a tape library
- Supervises graphics staff and coordinates departmental projects
- Provides help desk support including responding to inquiries and providing general technical assistance regarding computer systems and programs as well as training in technology for staff.
- Assists in IT administrative duties, purchasing IT products, and maintains an inventory of computer supplies
- Generates miscellaneous financial chart reports from the database
- Performs a variety of projects that are PC and MAC related
- Sends out legislative alerts and press releases through email broadcast
- Functions as technical support to staff for computer software, hardware, and website questions and problems
- Performs related duties as required
- Research for systems and software applicable to organization
Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree preferred
- Certification/Experience related to position
- Two-three year minimum experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Macromedia suite
- Operating systems: Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 and Mac OSx
- Knowledge of Management software
- Knowledge of Accounting software
- Knowledge of web services
- Ability to work in diverse atmosphere
- Strong communication skills (written & oral)
- Ability to interact with outside parties, determining and conveying CABE’s needs
- Ability to not compromise integrity of sensitive/confidential information
- Ability to prioritize & meet deadlines
- Ability to work productively with minimal supervision
- Possession of a valid California Driver’s License
- Bilingual preferred

Elementary Principal
Dual-Immersion Spanish/English Charter School
Santa Barbara, CA
Located in Santa Barbara, CA, the mission of César Estrada Chávez Dual Language
Immersion Charter School (CCCS) is to develop bi-literate students whose strong academic
and multi-cultural foundation prepare them to meaningfully participate in their families, their
community, and their world to create a more just and equitable society. Founded in 1999,
CCCS has a total staff of 14 full-time employees and 12 part-time employees serving
approximately 260 students in Kindergarten through Sixth grade. The school is governed by
a Governance Council (GC) that consists of twelve voting positions, and two non-voting
members: the Principal and a member of the Santa Barbara School Board.
Assignment:
Under professional direction of the Governance Council, the Principal will serve as the chief
administrative officer of the school as well as the instructional leader. In this role, the
Principal will direct the formulation and implementation of operational procedures and
practices for the Charter organization; plan, develop, and implement instructional objectives;
implement procedures to evaluate instructional program effectiveness; assist in the planning,
implementation of staff development and training programs; plan, develop, and carry out
public and community relations programs and activities; and other related functions.
Qualifications:
• Leadership qualities with a strong passion and vision for bi-lingual education and
dual-immersion teaching;
• Excellent communication skills in oral and written form in English and Spanish;
• Drive and ability to establish, promote, and foster high academic standards and
respectful behavior;
• Experience planning, developing, and maintaining effective organizational and civic
relationsihps;
• Proven track record of establishing strong lines of communication with and among
teachers, students, parents, and community members;
• Understanding of current bi-lingual teaching theories, practices, and assessments;
• Knowledge of organizational management for a public education institution;
• Ability to work in a collaborative manor to deliver results true to the mission of CCCS;
• Well developed fundraising & grant-writing skills.
Experience & Education:
• Five years of successful teaching experience, or the successful completion of a
comprehensive administrative internship training program, in a bilingual
(English/Spanish) and ethnically diverse setting;
• Equivalent to the completion of a Master of Arts or higher degree in educational
administration, instructional technology, or a closely related field;
• Possession of a Bilingual Certificate of Competence (BCC), Bilingual, Crosscultural
Language and Academic Development (BCLAD) certificate or the euivalent;
• Administrative Credential Preferred.
