President's Corner
Dear CABE members,
For the last 33 years CABE has been a pivotal source of professional development and inspiration for thousands of educators in California and across the nation. As we are approaching our annual conference I want to invite you to be part of this unique experience. As an educator of English Learners and as a Bilingual Educator you are dealing with many challenges in order to provide the best instructional approach for our students
.
Today more than ever the voice of CABE needs to be heard. We are about to face one of biggest budget cuts in K-12 education, we need to be united and speak with one voice to stand up for our students. They are expecting us to represent them. Our students from disadvantaged environments are going to be tremendously impacted by these budget cuts. English Learners come from diverse backgrounds, many are underserved. Therefore as a community of responsible citizens and educators we must act decisively and purposely. I urge you to use your voice and join us in contacting your representatives in the assembly and senate floor. I urge you to challenge these proposed cuts and the attempt to balance the budget at the expenses of our students. I urge you to maintain your vision and continue to work on behalf of our students .
Once again our CABE Conference is around the corner. Let’s meet in San Jose and learn from each other so we return to schools we will be more knowledgeable and inspired to serve our children at an even higher level .
See you in San Jose on March 6-8th .
Sincerely,
Karling Aguilera-Fort
CABE President
